Clean Power Finance CEO Nat Kreamer Named White House Champion of Change

San FranciscoNovember 4, 2013—The White House has named Nat Kreamer, CEO of financial technology provider Clean Power Finance, a Champion of Change in the “Veterans in Clean Energy and Climate Security” category. Kreamer is being honored at a White House ceremony on November 5.

The White House Champions of Change program recognizes individuals, businesses and organizations doing “extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.” The “Veterans in Clean Energy and Climate Security” award recognizes Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who are leading their communities to prepare for the impacts of climate change and transition to a clean energy economy.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this award,” said Kreamer. “We owe our veterans and fellow citizens a way of life powered by clean, affordable and domestic energy sources such as solar.”

As a U.S. Navy officer, Nat served in the U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Returning from Afghanistan, Kreamer pioneered the concept of residential solar financing in 2007 when he co-founded SunRun. Kreamer’s innovation helped start a multi-billion dollar industry that employs tens of thousands of Americans and saves hundreds of thousands of Americans money on their electricity bills, using clean and domestic solar power. Today, he is the president and chief executive officer of Clean Power Finance, a leading provider of software and financial services to the solar industry, and the vice chairman of the board of directors of the Solar Energy Industries Association, the nation’s leading solar trade association.

“Nat has done exemplary service for our country, and has emerged as an inspirational leader in an industry that is taking action on climate change,” said Google Ventures General Partner Joe Kraus, an investor in Clean Power Finance. “He’s one of the most compelling operational executives in Silicon Valley, and is making a difference by striving to lower the consumer costs of solar power.”
